Poetry. Some love it and some hate it. Those who hate it often see it as overly dense or flowery or just insipid, but poetry is a very powerful medium and these digital resources can be used as tools to draw students into an appreciation of poetry and to encourage them to create their own.

- Teen Ink is a site that allows teens to authentically share their writing and poetry. Teens are encouraged to write and read the work of others to be inspired. Also included in this site is an online magazine of teen work and writing guides as well as videos. This is an incredible resource to share with student writers!
- Another poetry site that is directed towards a teen audience is Power Poetry. Again, teens can submit poems and read the work of their peers, as well as that of established poets. In addition, poetry slams are organized through the site and winners receive scholarships. This is a site that recognizes the power in young voices and gives teens the opportunity to be heard.
- Monica Burns, an educator and tech consultant, has created an Online Poetry Resources site to combine poetry with digital tech. The site offers links to apps, helpful resources, and a whole section of links relating to poetry on the web.
- This document, "Poetry: A Powerful Medium for Literacy and Technology Development," by Dr. Janette Hughes, discusses the power of poetry and how that power can be increased when it is combined with technology. The document shows that poetry, one of the oldest written forms, and new technologies can be blended together.
- This Thing Link is a collection of poetry month tech ideas gathered by Tina Zita. There are resources relating to creating poetry, enjoying poetry, and combining poetry with technology in the classroom, along with apps to help the process along. Check out some of the great ideas!
